Anurag Kashyap will stay away from crime based projects, will make many films in other genres as well

Anurag Kashyap, known for his exceptional gangster dramas like ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ and ‘Black Friday’, has expressed his desire to explore different genres in filmmaking. In a media interview, he mentioned that he wants to make films that he truly believes in, even if it means facing criticism from certain sections of the audience.
Anurag acknowledged that there is a section of viewers who appreciate his work solely in the crime and violent genre, as that is what they expect from him. However, he emphasized that he wants to break free from this stereotype and venture into other genres that pique his interest. He shared an incident where some people objected to his film ‘Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat’ because it deviated from the gangster genre. However, when he released the teaser of his film ‘Kennedy’, the same people hailed it as his comeback, which puzzled him as he had already made the film two months prior.
Anurag’s desire to explore different genres beyond crime showcases his creative evolution as a filmmaker. He is determined to make films that challenge him artistically and allow him to showcase his versatility. While he acknowledges that there may be criticism from certain fans who expect a particular style from him, he remains steadfast in his commitment to follow his creative instincts.
